BUILDING SCIENCE 2 (ARC 3413)
Project 1: Iighting and Acoustic Performance Evaluation and Design
This Series of Building Science 2 classes where mostly emphasized on the Lighting and Acoustic Performance in Building Science whereas in Building Science 1 the natural elements such as Daylight and Natural Ventilation were mostly the main focus point. The aim for this module which is mainly a oncern for urban design as say Design Studio 5, is to help students understand the concept of artificial lighting and acoustic performance in building design. Thus, the first project for this module was to analysis the Acoustic and Lighting performance of a selected building by a group of 5 students. Each Group were to analysis and evaluate the lighting and Acoustic performance in the proposed case study.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Understand lighting and acoustic behavior.
2. Understand the reasonings and application of artificial lighting.
3. Understand the advantage and disadvantage of noise, whether as a disturbance or as a masking noise for certain private activities.
4. Understand Colors and Textures of materials which affects both lighting and acoustics.
Project 2: Integration with Design Studio 5
The has concept as in project 1 was applied in this project. The only difference was that it was not a case study but a proposed design. What has been learned in project 1 was applied in project 2, proposals of lighting and acoustics setup were proposed. The factor of technicality and design strategies are of major concern in the context we are talking about.
5. Understand Calculations and Lumen method.
6. Understand acoustic behaviour through calculations.
